Kevin Rose and Alex Albrecht visit Ripe

Thursday, October 25th, 2007

Well, almost visit Ripe - they were in the same country!

Background: For the last few years, we’ve been printing the passes, brochures, posters and flyers for Carsonifieds Future of …. conferences. So far we’ve printed items for the Future of Web Apps (FOWA), Future of Web Design (FOWD) and Future of Online Advertising (FOOA) Conferences. Ryan, who owns Carsonified (www.carsonified.com) is a good friend and he also created DropSend.com (the web utility we use for client uploads). This year’s Future of Web Apps was the biggest yet and Kevin and Alex filmed their first ever Diggnation London there.
Diggnation, for those of you who have never seen it, is an internet show hosted by Kevin Rose and Alex Albrecht. From their website: “Diggnation is a weekly tech/web culture show based on the top digg.com social bookmarking news stories”. If you’ve never seen it, watch the episode from the FOWA in London to see what it’s all about. http://revision3.com/diggnation/2007-10-04London
Anyway, as you can see in the picture below they’re wearing the passes we printed for them. In geek circles, this is huge!
Yeah!

CONTROL|PRINT

CONSIDERING THE FUTURE OF INK ON PAPER

If ‘quality’ is to be a fundamental reason for print to exist, and ‘environmentally sustainable’ the watchwords in production, DOES THE DIGITAL PRESS REPRESENT A RETURN TO THE SENSIBILITIES OF A TRADITIONAL ‘CRAFT-BASED’ INDUSTRY, PRINTING MATERIAL OF BEAUTY ON DEMAND FOR THE MOST DISCERNING AUDIENCE?

This research explores this question from the perspective of a ‘creative practitioner’, by placing emphasis upon the importance of human skill and intervention in a process which has been hijacked by automation.

Just received a box of beers from a happy customer via lastorders.com.

We’ve not heard of this before, but what a fantastic idea.
The Gift Mesage says “A few beers to say thanks for all the hard work on Business Plan. They looked wicked! Cheers. Roland and all at mhd”.

Box of Beer

Thank you everyone at mhd from all of us at Ripe.
